O.K. so some of you know this crazy story of mine. But, let's start at the begining. When Jonathan proposed to me, he gave the most beautiful ring ever, truly it was my dream engagment ring. Well shortly after we were engaged we noticed what looked like a crack in the diamond, so we went back to our jeweler and asked him to fix it. Well he had it for two weeks then we called him the day before our wedding and he hadn't fixed it yet, but he gave it back so we could have it for our wedding. Well, we called after the honeymoon and wanted to know when we could have it fixed. It was always like, "um...I'll call you when I get the new diamond in..blah blah blah..." We would call every month or so for about a year and he would say the same thing, or just not even answer our phone. Well then in January of 2005 when we were down for Christmas, we finally got a hold of him some how (after finding out his company went bankrupt and he had moved...blah....no suprise) and we went in to see him and gave him our ring with the promise and a written note of the day it would be done, "Jan. 5th". He said to just come back on that day and pick it up. So we went that day...no one answered, the store was completly locked down. We call, no answer, we call & call & call.....on and on this story goes. We obviously had to go back to Edmonton, so I had my Mom calling. We finally went to the police to charge him for stealing my ring, and they said that the already have a file on him....WHAT!!!.....he is a know criminal and has done this to many other people!!! I guess they have been trying to catch him but he just rides under the radar. So well...I could really go on forever, we tryed to call, go over, bang on his door for an hour hoping he would get annoyed and come see us...Jonathan went one time and just waited till he came out of the store and then approched him saying, "give me back our ring" he got in his truck without saying anything and Jonathan stepped infront of the truck and they lurched it forward almost hitting him. After about a year or so of tyring...we gave up. We knew it was gone and we were so sad. Jonathan had worked so hard for it. But life went on, and we knew it was just a material thing, so we tried to forget about it. Anytime I would come across his number when I was going through files I would call...hoping miracoulusly he would answer. Never did though.
Well almost 3 years have gone by...on Saturday we were coming home from the temple and I wanted to call someone so I was going through Jonathan's phone and came across Toma's (our jeweler) number, I was like..."Jonathan you need to clean this out, you have some really old number's in here" but like old habit I dialed Toma's number.............................................................. he picks up! I say who I was and asked if he remembered me. Then I ask politly if I could have my ring back. He says, "Yes, tomorow". I just about died...but didn't get my hopes up to high, cause he is a thief. The next day he picks up his phone again and tell's me how to get to were he is. I still try not to get excited cause he has done this before and he wouldn't be there. Well we pull up to his house and he comes walking out with a ring box. I take it from him and open it up.....and there is my ring! After 3 years of him having it....of still having it which is amazing, he gives it back!! And we knew it was the same one that Jonathan had proposed to me with. That is the only reason I wanted it, was for what it meant. Jonathan worked so hard for it, he picked it out, it is a symbol of our marriage sealed for eternity.... I had it back! I almost fainted, seriously.
So I have told this story many times and everyone has always said that it was the sadest thing they have ever heard. Well now it has an amazing twist and a happy ending. I love my ring. I love my husband. And I love my Father in Heaven who I know was helping us that day. It was no coincedence. (oh ya, Toma is never in the country, he said he just happened to be there this weekend!) Anyway, the beautiful pictures are of course done by the magnificent Jeffrey Palmer, which I am so grateful for. He is so amazing and really captured them well! Thanks Jeff!

What an amazing, wonderful end to a very potentially sad situation. I'm so glad you got your ring back and that everything was okay. It's so hard to trust other people sometimes with things that are so special to us. I'm glad your story has a great, happy ending. Did you get another ring while waiting for the original ring or did you go ringless? I know after I got married I couldn't wear my ring because I had gained weight and the rings wouldn't fit. I finally got them sized and now they fit.
Yay Crystal I am sooooo thrilled that you FINALLY got your ring back. I remember when you told me about it when it was first happening. I can't believe you still never had it all this time. What a blessing!
I'm so happy for you that you got your ring back!! I know how much it means to you. And it is absolutely beautiful!!!! I've never seen another ring like it! I love the pictures!! I am biased though! :) About the subject and the photographer! :)
That is crazy. I can't believe all that happened. I am so happy for you that you got it back. It is so beautiful.I love that it means so much to you because it was the one that Jonathon proposed to you with.I can tell that the sentiment of it means so much to you. That is great that you got it back.....so wonderful. I thought the pictures of the rings were taken from the internet at first. They are such good pictures.
Oh. My. Gosh. I seriously haven't stopped thinking about your sad story since you told me!!! Honestly how AMAZING!!!!!

Your story made me cry. I am so happy for you! What an incredible blessing!
wow what a story. I'm so glad that you got it back finally.
So wonderful! Listen, take it into a reputable jewler and make sure there is still a REAL diamond in it though. I knew some people in Lethbridge who took their ring into be sized and a crook who worked there switched the diamond out for a fake one and they didn't figure it out for years!
